Denmark donates 5M kroner to Gaza field hospital
Denmark is contributing five million kroner to support the operation of a new field hospital in Gaza amidst a worsening humanitarian situation. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that the hospital will be able to treat between 200 and 250 patients daily, offering 60 beds for physical and psychological treatment. Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Minister Dan Jørgensen notes the health system in Gaza is severely depleted, with social infrastructure completely collapsed. Currently, only 12 of 36 Gazan hospitals are partially operational, and 71 percent of healthcare centers are nonfunctional. The Danish Red Cross is providing personnel, tents, and a water purification system. The field hospital is being established by the International Red Cross. Denmark acknowledges the aid is not sufficient and vows to continue putting pressure on Israel regarding its actions in Gaza, as recent efforts have not prompted Israeli cooperation.
