Freed Greta Thunberg protests in Copenhagen
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was first arrested and then released by Danish police on Wednesday morning after an occupation action in Copenhagen, but this did not seem to reduce her activism. That evening, she joined a protest organized by ‘Students Against the Occupation’, demanding that Copenhagen University end cooperation with Israeli universities. The protest moved from the university’s buildings at the old municipal hospital on Øster Farimagsgade to Frue Plads, with the police reporting it proceeded peacefully. Six protesters were arrested for trespassing but were later released. Thunberg, known for her leading voice against climate change, has been arrested before, for instance in London in October 2023 during a protest against oil firm leaders but was acquitted of disturbing public order.
