Over 400 Danes register for Lebanon emergency
Approximately 420 Danish citizens are currently registered on the ‘Danish List’ for Lebanon, following threats from Israel to deliver a ‘harsh’ response after a rocket fired from Lebanon on Saturday killed several people in the Golan Heights, according to a statement from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The actual number of Danes in Lebanon may not match the list as registration is voluntary. The list helps the ministry to communicate with registered individuals during crises such as natural disasters, political unrest, or terrorist events. The ministry has heightened its advisory by urging Danish citizens to exit Lebanon and has discouraged all travel to the country as Israel warns of potential war with Hezbollah. Israel alleges Hezbollah was behind Saturday’s rocket attack, which left 12 children and youth dead near a soccer field in the occupied Golan Heights, a claim the group rejects. Israel launched air strikes in Lebanon as retaliation.
