Diesel tax up 0.5 DKK/liter by 2025

Denmark will increase the diesel tax by 0.5 DKK per liter from 2025 as part of an agreement between the government and several political parties. To alleviate the impact, the equalization tax for diesel car owners will be temporarily lowered, with 150 million DKK set aside for this purpose for 2025 and 2026. Climate Minister Lars Aagaard stated that the annual threshold for savings versus increased costs is 20,000 kilometers driven. While immediate fuel costs will rise, overall car ownership costs will be reduced initially.
