Panel to recommend 750 DKK max CO2 tax
A government-appointed expert panel is set to recommend a CO2 tax for agriculture capped at 750 Danish kroner per emitted ton, according to TV 2 and Kristeligt Dagblad. The panel, led by Professor Michael Svarer, has proposed three tax models with the highest rate matching the one imposed on industry. Amid concerns from the agricultural sector about potential job losses, the SVM government’s policy framework emphasizes that the tax must support the sector without harming competitiveness or causing job relocation. The panel’s recommendations will inform the debate on a green tax reform involving the government, agricultural organizations, and environmental groups. Their report is due to be presented Wednesday at 11 a.m.
