Lene Skole nominated as Chairman of Ørsted

The board of Ørsted has nominated Vice Chairman Lene Skole to be the new Chairman. Lene Skole has been Vice Chairman since 2015 and is also the CEO of Lundbeck Foundation. Andrew Brown, Ørsted’s acting Group COO, is proposed as Vice Chairman. Ørsted reported a loss of DKK 20.2 billion for 2023 on February 7, mainly due to significant writedowns on U.S. projects. The current Chairman, Thomas Thune Andersen, who is stepping down at the upcoming general meeting on March 5 after ten years, endorsed Skole as the best candidate. With the annual report, Ørsted presented a new business plan detailing cuts in capital investments, scaling back the 2030 investment plan from DKK 475 billion to DKK 270 billion. The company also announced the elimination of 600-800 jobs globally, with about 250 people being laid off in the following months, approximately 60% of whom are in Denmark.
