Novonesis acquires Swiss feed partner

Novonesis has ended its 25+ year collaboration with the Swiss company DSM-Firmenich by purchasing their joint venture, Feed Zyme Alliance, for €1.5 billion. The Danish company seeks to meet the increasing demand for protein amid growing resource scarcity with innovative solutions in animal feed enzymes. The strategy shift by DSM-Firmenich, now focusing on beauty and personal care ingredients, paved the way for the takeover, making Novonesis a leader in the enzyme production for livestock feed, enhancing animal nutrition and health. The transaction is expected to be completed by 2025. Novonesis, a result of Denmark’s largest corporate merger between Novozymes and Chr. Hansen, holds nearly 50% market share in enzymes and cultures, is listed in Copenhagen with a market value of DKK 169 billion, and employs approximately 10,500 worldwide.
