Government Expects Higher Economic Growth

Led by Economy Minister Stephanie Lose, the Danish government projects a 2.7% economic growth for the current year and 1.8% for the next, reports TV 2 and Børsen. This outlook, to be detailed in an economic report on Thursday at 10.45 AM, marks an upward revision from previous estimates of 1.4% and 1.0% respectively for 2023 and 2025. Børsen reports that according to Lose, despite global inflation, rising interest rates, and stagnating economies elsewhere, Denmark’s job and housing markets remain dynamic. The employment decline anticipated in the previous report—totaling 30,000 jobs over the coming years—has been postponed to 2025. Instead, employment is now expected to increase by 13,000 this year, with a decrease of 18,000 jobs in 2025. Tore Stramer from Danish Business, a trade organization, sees this as an optimistic forecast, suggesting a continued economic upturn after a ‘very soft landing’.
