Emergency broadcasts to be on FM radios by DR P4

In a crisis where all systems fail and electricity is lost, emergency messages to the Danish population will be transmitted on DR’s local P4 radio stations. Bjarne Siewertsen, a senior consultant at the Danish Emergency Management Agency, stresses that regional P4 radio channels will broadcast messages if all other systems are down. There is a standing warning agreement between the Emergency Management Agency, the National Police, DR, TV 2, and TV 2’s regional channels to relay emergency messages. P4 has ten regional stations across the country. On June 15, the Minister of Defense and the Emergency Management Agency presented new emergency guidelines, advising citizens to be self-sufficient for three days in a crisis, stockpiling water, food, and medication, and recommending a battery-operated emergency radio and other supplies like a power bank and a flashlight.
