Messerschmidt reaches out to Trump at Mar-a-Lago

Morten Messerschmidt, leader of the Danish People’s Party, travels to Florida’s Mar-a-Lago to potentially connect with the incoming president, Donald Trump. Messerschmidt will be speaking at a conference hosted by the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast at Mar-a-Lago and has used contacts to try to arrange a dialogue with Trump. Despite no confirmation of Trump attending the conference, Messerschmidt hopes to discuss Greenland, an issue that has raised tension with Trump’s previous statements about wanting control over the island and threatening sanctions or military force against Denmark. The Danish government, criticized by some for a diplomatic response to Trump’s overtures, has reached out for dialogue, and Messerschmidt has previously called for military reinforcement in Greenland, including American assistance.
