As of Wednesday, May 29, Copenhagen University (KU) will cease investing in funds containing Airbnb, Booking.com, and eDreams due to their links to Israeli settlements in the West Bank as reported by KU on social media. This decision, aligned with KU’s policy on financial risk management and ethical investment strategies, echoes the university’s intention for ‘more active ownership’ of its capital management. Previously, KU had acknowledged the need for transparency in its investment practices after discussions with students and staff amid the Israel-Palestine conflict. Student group Studerende mod Besættelsen protested on campus, demanding KU divest from entities operating in the West Bank. KU’s total investments in the three companies amount to about one million Danish kroner and have stopped dialogue with protesters after a blockade at its administration building.
