Zelensky to attend Nordic Council in Iceland
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to attend the session of the Nordic Council in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, on Tuesday. As a guest speaker, he will conduct bilateral meetings with Nordic prime ministers. It’s not specified if Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will have a one-on-one meeting with Zelensky. A joint press conference is planned. The Nordic Council is a collaborative body of the parliaments from nations including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Åland. The Council’s President Bryndís Haraldsdóttir and Vice President Oddný G. Harðardóttir expressed their honor at Zelensky’s visit, highlighting the strong Nordic support for Ukraine following the Russian invasion in 2022. With an ongoing focus on democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, the Nordic Council aims to continue reminding the public of the importance of supporting Ukraine, amidst the challenges of Russian propaganda in the Nordics.
