DR & TV 2 chide Meta over scam ads

After being exploited in fraudulent articles and investment sites, DR and TV 2 hosts have collectively addressed Meta in a video urging the company to take responsibility for fake news on their platforms, Facebook and Instagram. Kåre Quist, TV Avisen host, and others like Anders Lund Madsen and Divya Das, demand action from Meta following a previous open letter signed by DR, TV 2, and BT. Scam campaigns have reached hundreds of thousands on social media, deceiving users with celebrity-led clicks leading to bogus investment schemes. TjekDet’s analysis revealed 500 ads featuring TV host Anders Lund Madsen were shown 650,000 times. DR’s news director, Sandy French, expresses frustration over Meta’s inaction, emphasizing the threat these scams pose to the credibility of public media. At the same time, Meta’s Nordic political chief, Martin Ruby, acknowledges the damage caused by such ads and the difficulties in completely abolishing them.
