Parties reject lowest CO2 tax for agriculture

SF, the Social Liberal Party, and The Conservatives have excluded the least intensive CO2 tax model, priced at 125 DKK per ton, from consideration for agriculture. They argue that this model does not provide significant or reliable reductions in emissions. Signe Munk of SF criticizes the model for relying on minimal taxation and excessive hope, potentially resulting in higher taxes or compromised welfare. An expert committee proposed three options for the CO2 tax on agriculture, ranging from 125 to 750 DKK per ton. The parties insist on a model that ensures actual emission reductions and possible agricultural adjustment, with the current negotiations aiming to conclude within the month. The proposed models could reduce emissions by 2.4 to 3.2 million tons if implemented.
