No bids on North Sea’s wind projects
Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm tender received no bids, reported the Energy Agency. The deadline passed without interest, disappointing energy minister Lars Aagaard, contrary to the initial enthusiasm for the project a year and a half ago. Price and interest hikes are cited as deterrents. The approach requiring companies to pay for development and operation has been debated, with Vattenfall deeming the business case insufficient for a large investment. Aagaard seeks dialogue with potential bidders to understand the lack of proposals. Critics argue that the state’s bureaucratic co-ownership model isn’t attractive for investors.
