Demand for ducks against garden slugs on DBA

There has been a surge in searches for ‘runner duck’ or ‘runner ducks’ on Den Blå Avis (DBA) in June, with no available sales listings of this duck type known for eating invasive slugs. DBA reports that searches for ‘runner duck’ increased by 389% and ‘runner ducks’ by 520% compared to June of the previous year. Even in May, the searches rose by 23% and 47%, respectively. Julie Schoen, press officer at DBA, has never seen such a high demand for an item with zero supply in her seven-year tenure. Stine Slotsbo, a senior researcher at Aarhus University, recommends runner ducks as an effective natural method to control garden slugs. Indian runner ducks are recognized by their upright walking posture, can weigh about two kilograms, and grow up to 76 centimeters long.
