Parties to renegotiate reform after critical report
In light of a critical report, the Danish political party Green Left, along with other parties to the agreement, seeks to renegotiate the master’s degree reform with Education and Research Minister Christina Egelund. The report by a committee made up of the nation’s university rectors and student representatives, which represented two-thirds of the committee, deemed it unrealistic to meet the political goals outlined in the reform. Specifically, the plan to have 20% of master’s students enrolled in new professional master’s programs and 10% in shorter one-year and three-month programs by 2032 is not feasible. There’s consensus among the parties to revisit certain elements, especially economic assumptions, to ensure flexibility and attractiveness of the professional master’s programs. Green Lefts education spokesperson Sofie Lippert believes in the need for adaptability in the reform and expects the minister’s commitment to adjusting it accordingly.
