Jutland arms factory tender delayed again
The tender for a Jutland arms factory has been postponed once more, as reported by Jyllands-Posten, referencing an internal briefing. Since April 1, 2024, the old ammunition factory in Elling, North Jutland, has reverted to state ownership. The government’s plan to revive ammunition production for Denmark and Europe continues to face delays. In March 2024, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen anticipated a deal with one or more companies by 2024. Expectations shifted to companies receiving tender documents by late 2024, now further delayed to the end of February 2025. According to the Defense Ministry, the delay is due to ‘important information and input’ emerging from discussions with interested companies. The impact of this procurement process on the overall schedule and production start remains unclear, pending the outcome of the tender.
