26-year-old charged with CEO murder in NYC
Luigi Mangione, 26, has been charged with the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City. Arrested in Pennsylvania at a McDonald’s, an employee recognized him from police photos. Mangione was found with a 3D-printed gun, suppressor, cash, and fake IDs. Charged with document forgery and illegal weapon possession, he has yet to face a judge regarding the murder charge. His stance on the accusation is unknown. Thompson was killed last Wednesday morning while on his way to an investors’ meeting. Speculations arise that Thompson’s role in the insurance industry may have motivated the killing, as nearby shell casings had phrases linked to a book critiquing insurance company practices.
