Hezbollah confirms leader’s killing
Hezbollah confirmed that their top leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed, as stated in a statement reported by Reuters. Israel announced that he was killed in an airstrike on a Hezbollah headquarters on Friday in Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut. Israeli spokesperson Avichay Adraee wrote on social media that the Israeli military had ‘eliminated the leader of the terrorist organization Hezbollah’. Hezbollah pledged to continue its struggle against Israel in support of Gaza, Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon. The military specified that Nasrallah and other top members, including Ali Karaki, were killed in a targeted attack on their headquarters. Nasrallah had been Hezbollah’s top leader since 1992, wielding significant influence in Lebanon and its institutions, and commanding a vast weapons arsenal. The escalation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon has intensified recently, coinciding with the war against the militant Hamas in Gaza.
