Royalty tops Denmark’s reading list in 2024

In Danmarks Nationalleksikon, Lex, subjects like the royal family, Danish Olympians, and US presidents were the most searched in 2024. The most-read article was about the royal lineage, garnering 237,298 views. The leksikon’s chief editor, Erik Henz Kjeldsen, notes that global events are often mirrored in what users look up. Nearly 40% of residents over 15 visited Lex in the past year, with readership increasing by roughly 20% from the previous year. Kjeldsen attributes this growth to Lex’s rising recognition and the influx of content from researchers. Lex is especially utilized for clarity on current events and for academic work, though a slight decline is noticed during school holidays. In an interesting turn, an article on former Prime Minister Anker Jørgensen jumped from 3-400 to over 63,000 monthly readings following a TV 2 series about him.
