Lawyers apologize after shocking documentary
The Chairman of the Danish Bar and Law Society, Martin Lavesen expressed apologies on behalf of lawyers after the TV 2 documentary ‘The Black Swan’ highlighted serious ethical breaches. In a meeting with Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard and Tax Minister Jeppe Bruus, he acknowledged questions about the role of lawyers and the effectiveness of their oversight. The Bar and Law Society has a zero-tolerance policy towards money laundering. Investigations have been launched against lawyers Lise Roulund and Nicolai Dyhr who appeared in the documentary. Dyhr was fired from the Horten law firm for advising criminals on fraud and claims the documentary didn’t show everything. Roulund, who runs her own legal practice, has been reported to police for involvement in money laundering. The Society is intent on strengthening oversight to prevent lawyers’ involvement in such illegal activities.
