Ten staff exit Moderates after work environment case

Ten employees have departed from the Danish political party Moderaterne following internal issues with the work environment. Three were fired while seven others resigned, constituting around a quarter of the party’s secretariat. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the political leader of the party, acknowledged the existence of a mobbing culture within one department that requires a fresh start, although he labeled the severance package for those whose contracts were ending as overly generous. The controversy, which had emerged in August after complaints to the Labor Inspectorate, described bullying and sexism. An external business psychologist’s investigation led to decisions made by the party leadership. MP Jeppe Søe, a co-founder of the party, left in disagreement over the management’s response, suggesting an impartial investigation should have been conducted. However, there were no consequences for current leaders named in the complaint filed with the Labor Inspectorate.
