Denmark to honor legal duties in Netanyahu case

Denmark confirms it will uphold its international legal obligations after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, suspecting them of war crimes in Gaza. The United States rejected the ICC’s order, while the EU emphasized the obligation to uphold it. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen discussed the ICC arrest warrant and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. Rasmussen underscored the gravity of the humanitarian crisis and called for progress in ceasefire negotiations in Lebanon. Denmark faces pressure to align with the ICC order, as not doing so could result in severe diplomatic repercussions and signal a double standard in the global view.
