DR and 11 European Networks Collaborate on ABBA Documentary

In 2024, marking the 50th anniversary of the Swedish pop group ABBA’s victory with ‘Waterloo’ at the Eurovision Song Contest, a new documentary will be released. Danmarks Radio (DR) and the Swedish equivalent SVT initiated the project, joined by ten other European public service broadcasters, including BBC and ARD/WDR. The documentary, titled ‘ABBA – Against All Odds,’ aims to showcase the story of one of the biggest pop groups ever, emphasizing their enduring global influence. It will feature exclusive interviews and rare archival footage, focusing on ABBA’s peak era from 1976 to 1980. Directed by James Rogan, who also made ‘Freddie Mercury: The Final Chapter,’ the film premieres at the CPH:DOX festival on March 23 and will be available on DR TV in May before the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, with broadcasts in over 15 countries across Europe.
