Over 91% of cancer patients treated timely
In the first two months of the year, 91.3% of cancer patients in Denmark began treatment within the required timeframes, according to figures resulting from a new monitoring method by the Danish Health Authority together with the regions. Karin Friis Bach, Health Committee Chair in Danish Regions, praised these as ‘fantastic numbers’. The new method categorizes reasons for any treatment delays, including patient health or choice, or rights not being upheld. Only 1.2% wait due to lack of capacity but are well informed of their rights. The data is based on 5,870 treatment courses across five regions. The Danish government allocated funds to strengthen the cancer care sector, with 600 million Danish kroner annually from the next year as part of a health package introduced by the government last May.
