Denmark reports 86,800 unemployed in February
The Danish Ministry of Employment has decided to make their own unemployment calculations, resulting in a February count of 86,800 full-time unemployed, which is a slight increase by 200 compared to January. The labor market continues to surge, and despite some signs of a slowdown, the situation is still good, according to Employment Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen. The new practice by the ministry aims to provide early indicators of unemployment trends to economists, organizations, and others following the labor market closely. Meanwhile, Statistics Denmark’s official unemployment statistics for February are scheduled for release on March 27. The ministry intends to publish its unemployment indicator earlier than the traditional statistics bureau, with its first release set for April 5, a week ahead of Statistics Denmark’s March figures.
