Rescued Børsen statue entrusted to National Museum of Denmark

An iconic statue from the gable of the Børsen building was retrieved on Saturday afternoon and will be handed over to the National Museum of Denmark on Sunday. Despite slight damage, the rescue operation was successful, according to Jakob Vedsted Andersen, Director of Greater Copenhagen Fire Department. The National Museum of Denmark will decide the fate of the statue with caution advised for handling the remnants. Contrary to initial fears, the masonry of Børsen’s walls is less damaged after the scaffolding collapse. While still precarious, parts of the building’s facade remain intact. Traffic is expected to resume by Monday around the afflicted area of Knippelsbro and Børsen Bridge.
