Polish president impedes Danish exports
Danish companies aim to participate in Poland’s green transition but are hindered by a political impasse. The EU has frozen funds meant for Poland’s green projects due to controversial judicial reforms. These reforms compromise the independence of courts, breaching EU principles. For the release of these funds, reforms need to be reversed, a task requiring the cooperation of Polish President Andrzej Duda, who currently opposes the changes promoted by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Duda’s approval is critical for any legislative change. Professor Marlene Wind comments on the challenging situation but believes Tusk will eventually succeed. Danish Industry’s (DI) Lars Sandahl Sørensen remains hopeful about Poland’s green ambitions and their necessity for CO2 reduction.
