Since 2005, the number of reported burglaries in Denmark has plummeted, with 45,946 fewer break-ins in 2024, constituting a 60% drop as per Statistics Denmark. The decline is particularly sharp in businesses, dropping 75% from 2005. Residential break-ins also reduced by 51%, equating to 14,895 less reports. There were 500 fewer burglary reports in 2024 compared to 2023, a 2% fall. As burglaries declined, the charge rate for burglary cases increased from 6% in 2007 to 8% in 2024. The increase was most notable in the North Denmark Region, where the charge rate doubled from 7% to 14%. This region also witnessed the largest decrease in reported burglaries, with a 76% reduction from 2007. While burglaries decreased, the last four years saw a rise in shoplifting reports, with a 77% climb from 2021 to 2024, and an 11% increase between 2023 and 2024.
