Denmark delivers a third of promised tanks
Denmark has delivered approximately one-third of the at least 100 Leopard 1 tanks it promised to Ukraine at the beginning of 2023, with the number currently standing at 30 according to the German Defense Ministry. Initially announced in February 2023 by the Danish government, along with Holland and Germany, these older tanks were stored in Germany and required renovation before shipment. Although expected within a few months, the first tanks were not dispatched until September due to delays, including technical issues. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen attributed delays to the nation’s inexperience with such donations and unforeseen challenges. Moreover, the delivery of 14 Leopard 2 tanks, announced in April 2023, is also proceeding slowly, with only two tanks having reached Ukraine so far.
