Silence clause in Nordic Waste compensation

Companies seeking compensation from Nordic Waste must agree to a confidentiality clause, as reported by DR. An agreement sent to creditors following a hazardous landslide near Randers states that parties must keep any financial settlements confidential. The USTC conglomerate, led by billionaire Torben Østergaard-Nielsen, formed a new company to compensate firms that worked for the now bankrupty soil cleaning firm, Nordic Waste. The issues with contaminated soil have been persisting well before the landslide incident which gained attention in mid-December. Business Randers’ director Jens E. Kristensen criticized the arrangement, suggesting it aims to silence affected parties. More than 140 businesses are owed money, but they have chosen not to come forward publicly. Kristensen advises these companies to review the offer with their lawyers. While the creation of a specific company for compensation is not illegal, it has raised concerns.
