Dane involved as Israel fired warning shots in Jenin

The Danish head of representation in Ramallah was among a group of foreign diplomats fired upon by warning shots from the Israeli military during a visit to Jenin in the West Bank. Denmark’s Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, confirmed the incident and described it as “unacceptable,” adding that the diplomat is safe. Due to the severity of the situation, Rasmussen has requested the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summon the Israeli ambassador for an official explanation. The Israeli military admitted to firing warning shots because the diplomats deviated from their planned route. The incident, documented by AFP, showed diplomats and journalists taking cover amid gunfire sounds. There were no injuries reported. The foreign ministries of Spain, Italy, Egypt, Germany, Turkey, Ireland, and France have criticized the event as diplomats from these countries were present.
