Audit reveals rule breaches in spy chiefs’ pay
The Danish National Audit Office found payroll regulatory breaches for 6 out of 15 examined chiefs at the Defence Intelligence Service (FE). The comprehensive audit criticized FE’s management of remuneration, detailing overpayments including a chief paid 130,000 kroner too much, and another receiving 46,000 kroner in excess pension. Additionally, there were instances of missing contracts which made it impossible to verify fixed salaries. In response, FE is taking serious steps to overhaul its financial management. Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has released the report, highlighting the need for greater fiscal oversight. Overall, 31% of the audited cases had errors. FE is also facing a directive to implement significant budget cuts.
