112 soon for psychiatric emergencies too
Denmark will integrate a psychiatric emergency phone service into its existing 112 emergency hotline, following an agreement by a broad parliamentary majority. Health minister Sophie Løhde notes that people in need of urgent psychiatric aid will be able to call the service 24/7. The integration also aims to solidify mobile emergency psychiatric services. Based on recommendations from December 2024, the rollout will commence in 2025, with complete functionality expected by 2026. Newly hired staff with psychiatric qualifications are part of the initial stage, with aspirations for all operators to handle calls with appropriate support. Funding of 150 million kroner from 2026 is allocated to strengthen the psychiatric hotline and related treatments. The psychiatric care agreement was unanimously reached in the Danish Parliament in November 2023.
