Red Cross raises 13M for vulnerable families
The Danish Red Cross has collected approximately 13 million Danish kroner in its yearly national fundraiser. This year’s collection is short by around one million kroner compared to the previous year, primarily due to the pending collection in the Faroe Islands, which typically contributes a similar amount. Additionally, the good weather meant fewer people were at home to donate, says Red Cross. Despite a higher number of registered collectors, the actual turnout is not yet known. Secretary-General Anders Ladekarl attributed the strong registration numbers to a need for hope given the global conflicts. The funds will support the vulnerable in Denmark and abroad, including providing food and shelter for some of the 1.2 million displaced persons in Lebanon. Part of the money will also enable more children from disadvantaged families in Denmark to attend summer camps next year.
