Frederiksen travels to Italy to discuss deportations
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is meeting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss the expulsion of criminal foreigners, Berlingske reports. Denmark faces challenges from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which has blocked such expulsions. Frederiksen argues that if individuals cannot behave, they should not remain in Denmark. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday at 19:00, will address the restrictive interpretations of the human rights convention. Frederiksen and Meloni’s governments are gathering signatures from European leaders for an open letter opposing the court’s expansive interpretation, which they feel hinders independent immigration policy.
