Danish Business Pledges to Rebuild Stock Exchange
The stock exchange building in Copenhagen was seriously damaged by fire on Tuesday, with around half of the iconic structure burnt down. According to the CEO of Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv), Brian Mikkelsen, who spoke at a press conference following an inspection, the restoration of the building was underway and was supposed to be completed by fall. Despite the damage, Mikkelsen emphasized that the stock exchange, which is owned by Dansk Erhverv, would be rebuilt. He described the building as a national treasure but acknowledged that, although it would be reconstructed like the old exchange, it would not be the same. Funding for the rebuild is not yet determined, but Mikkelsen is confident that it will be financed as part of Denmark’s cultural heritage.
