Egypt’s president to visit Denmark

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will visit Denmark on December 6 and 7, invited by the Danish royal couple. The visit includes a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace and launching a Danish-Egyptian trade forum, reflecting the strategic partnership between Denmark and Egypt. Denmark earlier contributed 100 million kroner to Egypt’s migration efforts due to its pivotal role in migration routes. Al-Sisi, who came to power by overthrowing President Mohamed Mursi in 2013, has maintained a tight grip on power, evidenced by his decisive re-election in 2023 with 89.6% of votes. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen looks forward to the visit, citing Egypt’s key role in climate initiatives. After Denmark, al-Sisi will continue to Norway for further state visits.
