Body of slain Danish soldier found in Ukraine

The body of a 25-year-old Danish man reported killed in Ukraine in 2022 has been discovered near the frontline city of Mykolajiv, according to TV 2. A DNA test confirmed with 95% certainty that it is the Dane, Rasmus Tantholdt, a TV 2 correspondent, reports. The fallen soldier had previously served in the Jutland Dragoon Regiment and had traveled to Ukraine to fight for the Ukrainian army. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is bound by confidentiality in personal matters, has not yet commented. However, the ministry did acknowledge in April 2022 that the man’s family had identified him as deceased. The family is currently seeking assistance to repatriate his remains, recently cremated, to Denmark.
