Polish national expected to be deported for assaulting Danish PM

A Polish citizen remains in custody for allegedly hitting Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, with a judge extending his detention until July 4. The 39-year-old, who was intoxicated and had recently stolen alcohol, is charged with assaulting an official and denies guilt. He possesses a history of theft since 2019 and faces additional indecency charges. Frederiksen reported a slap to her shoulder causing whiplash-like symptoms. The prosecutor expects a three-month sentence and deportation with an entry ban to Denmark. The defense attorney argues against a politically motivated charge and expects a possible 40-day sentence, citing a similar precedent. The custody is maintained due to flight risk concerns.
