Zelensky thanks Denmark for defense investment

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has vowed to invest more in Ukraine’s defense sector. At a Nordic-Ukrainian meeting, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Denmark for being a leader in investing directly in Ukraine’s defense industry. An agreement signed in Kyiv by Denmark’s Defense Minister in September will see 4.2 billion DKK worth of Ukrainian-made weapons delivered, partly funded by 1.3 billion DKK from Denmark and 2.9 billion DKK from the EU, using frozen Russian assets. The investment will focus on items such as drones and missiles produced within Ukraine, ensuring quicker access to these resources. Frederiksen stressed the war’s implications for the future of Europe and cautioned about Russia receiving assistance from countries like North Korea, Iran, and China. Denmark is among the largest per capita military aid providers to Ukraine, contributing 51.9 billion DKK in military and 5.2 billion DKK in civil support since February 2022.
