Funds for integration efforts released

Funding for various integration efforts in Denmark, previously put on hold since the turn of the year, will now be released, and planned savings of DKK 27 million are cancelled, according to Integration Minister Kaare Dybvad Bek. Organizations working on initiatives including negative social control, crisis services, and those like the Red Cross will be contacted promptly. The freeze was due to a 2021 agreement on increasing prison capacity, leading to expected 2024 cuts to integration funding to benefit the Correctional Services. However, an agreement was reached on Thursday evening to cancel these savings and distribute the funds. Politiken reports that 21 integration projects from 19 organizations, totaling DKK 64 million, were affected. Dybvad Bek expressed regret over the delays and emphasized the importance of organizations receiving their 2024 funding to continue their work.
