Nordic Waste’s owner, DSH Recycling, declares bankruptcy
DSH Recycling, a sister company of Nordic Waste and owner of the landslide site at Ølst near Randers, declared bankruptcy in a court session, reports Børsen and CleantechWatch.dk. The company had sought reconstruction on February 23 following a massive landslide. Nordic Waste abruptly left the site, handing over containment efforts to Randers Municipality, which soon after went bankrupt itself. Randers Municipality is left with cleanup costs estimated at around 300 million kroner and believes DSH should pay part of the bill. Meanwhile, DSH Recycling has sued the municipality, with a trial looming in the Western High Court. The municipality continues to seek funds from the bankrupt estates. DSH Recycling had a profit of 40.6 million kroner last fiscal year and has paid dividends totaling 66.8 million kroner over the past three years. Its parent company, DSH Environment, is owned by USTC, led by businessman Torben Østergaard-Nielsen and his daughters.
