Expect lower food prices this spring
Danish consumers can look forward to lower food prices over the spring, with 52 percent of surveyed food retail companies expecting to reduce their selling prices in the next three months, according to Denmark’s Statistics released on Thursday. While 44 percent anticipate unchanged prices, only four percent foresee an increase. Kristian Skriver of Dansk Erhverv highlights that the anticipated decrease is good news and that the expected fall in prices would be around 2-3 percent due to a decline in global food prices over the past year. Additionally, Brian Friis Helmer from Arbejdernes Landsbank notes that food prices have already dropped nearly four percent since last summer’s peak. However, even with the potential reduction, food prices today are still 20 percent higher compared to two years ago.
