Doubt cast on new Copenhagen lord mayor role for S

With the appointment of Sophie Hæstorp Andersen as the new Minister of Social Affairs and Housing, Lars Weiss of the Social Democratic Party is suggested to take over as acting mayor in Copenhagen according to the group’s spokesperson Laura Rosenvinge. However, conservative Jakob Næsager, in charge of children and youth affairs in Copenhagen, advises a deliberate approach without haste in deciding on a new lord mayor. Parties other than the Social Democrats are reportedly closing ranks, and while the final decision isn’t expected at their meeting later in the day, Lars Weiss is expected to serve until an official meeting on September 19. Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil, who previously held the ministerial position, is interested in running for lord mayor in the next municipal election.
