One Muhammad drawing sold at auction
One of three auctions for Kurt Westergaard’s original Muhammad sketches resulted in a sale, reports Erik Guldager of KW Icons. Despite receiving bids, two auctions didn’t meet the sellers’ minimum prices. The identity of the drawing owners is kept confidential. One auction fell 250,000 euros short of the reserve price. The remaining sketches are now offered for sale on KW Icons’ webshop, with sellers realizing that their expectations might exceed current market values. These auctions concluded on March 13 with no set end date for future sales. Multiple original drawings exist because Westergaard crafted several versions and sketches before finalizing the motif, including one from 1994 that shares the iconic bomb-in-turban imagery.
