Landslide no longer threatens Ølst homes

The Danish Ministry of Environment reports that the landslide near Randers is stabilizing, alleviating risk to houses in Ølst. According to a new report by Geus, despite the environmental risk of contaminated surface water running into Alling Å, the structural threat to homes is now minimal. Minister Magnus Heunicke highlights the importance of continued vigilance and water treatment. The landslide occurred on Nordic Waste’s property in December, leading the company to eventually file for bankruptcy and face severe political criticism. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has stressed the significance of the event and the government’s view of it as a national concern. Furthermore, the government’s legal advisers are evaluating potential legal actions against Nordic Waste’s management and related entities, while Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard is looking into legislative changes to prevent such incidents.
