Wildfire prompts Hollywood evacuations

Authorities in Los Angeles have ordered the evacuation of the heart of Hollywood due to a wildfire that erupted overnight in the Hollywood Hills, mere meters from Hollywood Boulevard. The blaze threatens lives, prompting an immediate evacuation order and the closure of the area, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Wildfires are raging in various suburbs of Los Angeles, with reports of at least five fatalities, according to Sheriff Robert Luna. He also mentioned the inability to contain the fires and expects the death toll to rise. Approximately 130,000 residents have been urged to evacuate, while over 400,000 households experience power outages. Six different fires are affecting the Los Angeles region. Upcoming Oscar-nomination events have been postponed, and President Joe Biden has canceled a planned trip to Italy to focus on the wildfire response.
