Danish tourists return to Kos hotels after fire

Danish tourists on the Greek island of Kos begin returning to their hotels on Tuesday after being evacuated due to a forest fire. TUI and Apollo, two travel companies, report that they had 9 and 20 Danish guests respectively in the evacuated area. The fire is now under control, and local authorities have deemed it safe to return. Guests are being transported back by bus or private transport, with plans for everyone to be back by the afternoon, Apollo’s communication department informed. Spies, which had 37 guests in the area, 12 of whom were evacuated, has also been in contact with their guests via text message regarding transportation arrangements. The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned of a perilous summer ahead due to high risks of wildfires, with difficult times still to come. Swedish and Norwegian tourists on the island were also evacuated.
